My name is Ruchi. I am 32 years old. I am from India and I am in France for Executive MBA IBM at SHG Paris.
I did my master in pharmacy (Quality Assurance). I had five years of working experience in zydus research centre (Ahmedabad). Later on in 2020 I started studying executive MBA IBM in France and from November 2021 to April 2022 I did my internship in Sanofi (Paris).
Though I had master degree in pharma stream I felt for certain designation to be a good leader or as manager I do require management degree. Once you are at higher position you need to learn how small things can affect the business, how we can become good leader. How to communicate with the vendors. Also, I felt it should help me to move forward for corporate premise as I was working in research centre.
SHG was promising for me as for my Executive MBA IBM course was broad and it was covering all subjects which I require to move further in my professional life. SHG was helpful in terms of visa process as well.
Work culture was resembled to the corporate culture. Professor and their teaching methods though it was online due to covid. They made us prepared for future task and environment.
I am seeing my self at a very higher position in pharma sector as well as I want my self to be capable enough to help the community.
During my internship I gain experience regarding medical device and work related to devices. I also learned different countries regulatory system. Importantly on Management site I learned professional behaviour, communication, time management, punctuality, how to work on emotions and many more on how to become a good leader.
If you want to achieve something in professional and personal life management course is helpful in both prospective. Be focused. Set your goal make a plan as SHG thought me during career management sessions. Execute your plan wisely.
Can you introduce yourself?
My name is Rebecca. I am 26 years old and I come from Belgium.
Why do you study Hotel management?
I study hospitality management because it is the perfect field that matches with my personality. Indeed, I love to travel, meet new people and understand new cultures. I am a very open minded person, outgoing and I specially like the luxury industry. Hospitality is not only a field or a career choice, it is a culture. It’s about learning how to greet people, how to go above and beyond, how to properly resolve problems with guests or employees, how to overcome challenges and more. It is a versatile field that could help you to be successful in any kind of business.
Why did you choose SHG to study?
I chose to study at SHG because of the variety of subjects the school offers. With such a baggage of knowledge we are ready to run the world right after our studies. The mission and vision of the school is to make us become managers and leaders. So, SHG help us to develop our skills and knowledge while applying everything we learnt through the courses in real life case studies. I also like the fact that the school give us the opportunity to study online which allows you to work or in my case, it allows me to manage my time as a mother as well.
What do you like at SHG?
I like the opportunity to study foreign languages and the availability of the teachers in case we do not understand a subject. I believe SHG gives us the right tools to become successful individuals.
What is your background and experience?
Well, before starting hospitality management studies, I was a model for about 6 years. Modeling helped me to network and work with brands and designers. I like fashion industry and I like to look good and be sophisticated. This experience in modeling gave me a lot of self confidence and opened me to the international world. Before starting Hospitality management I wanted to start from learning the hard way by working in housekeeping department to challenge myself and see how this department was working. I think it is important for any future manager to have a global understanding of every operations of the business you want to run. After that, I did a great internship in F&B at the President Wilson Hotel in Geneva and expand my F&B experience at the Beau Rivage in Geneva for summer season. Furthermore, I did another internship in the guest relations department at Bvlgari Hotel in Dubai where I was able to do a cross training in Concierge department, Front office and guest relations. And I am looking forward to do more and have a successful career.
How do you see yourself in the coming years?
I see myself starting from running a hotel department to becoming a Luxury Hotel General Manager in the coming years. Then, once this goal will be achieved, why not becoming a business owner. I think it is important to always rise your goals and not settle once you have achieved what you wanted. There is always more to do. We only got one life.
What would you say to new students?
I would say that if you are motivated, hard worker and ambitious, then you should apply to SHG. You will learn interesting subjects all directly focused on the management and these courses will make you grow and they will make you prepared enough to open or manage any business in the future.

Hi everyone, my name is Barbara, I am a 21-years old student from Italy who has studied in the SHG Milan centre and is currently in SHG Barcelona. I am studying for a bachelor in International Hospitality Management and I am at year 2.
Our main objective is to become Hotel Managers or at least reach a position within an organisation, mainly related to tourism and hospitality. That is the reason why we have plenty of courses that give us 360 degrees view of all the aspects of the hospitality sector. During the first year, right after the pandemic, we have physically attended classes in our study centres but due to an increase of the contagions, we have shifted to online classes. Online classes gave us the opportunity to see people from other study centres, which are many in the world, and make connections within the school.
What is best, at least for an Italian student, is the programme. Italian universities have heavy and long programmes which do not lead to any practical course while here you have everything. The 6+6 months programme is the perfect combination for practice and theory. I think the hospitality field is not known at 100% if is not practiced among the years.
I like that it is fully in English, the possibility to meet people from all around the world and build your own network and the fact that we have paid internships in major hotels and restaurants which has a consistent weight on our curriculum.
I have been working in a 5 stars deluxe hotel on Lake Como, in Bellagio, called Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni for six months. It has been a wonderful experience given by the university who understood my wishes and gave me the opportunity to shine in such company. The possibility to work with luxurious brands is great in terms of experience and for your curriculum and shapes your mind building the manager inside you.
I see myself opening my own Resort in Latino America together with my partner and colleague Melyne, who is also studying here at SHG with me. During classes we have seen hat our dreams were matching and spoke to make them become truth.
SHG is a great opportunity for you to spread your wings and fill your mind with knowledge of subjects and matters you have never heard before. What you study is 100% useful for your future career and is something hard to find in other schools.
